Geography
In our fast-paced changing world, Geography has never been more important. Geography at HGAED helps students to understand space and place – recognising the great differences in landscapes, environments, climates, cultures, settlements and economies across the world and how they are connected.
Our Geography curriculum also provides an ideal framework for students to connect and bring together other fields of knowledge to explore Geography synoptically. Geography is so important because, in the broadest sense, it provides an education for life and for living. Whether gained through formal learning or from the world around through travel, fieldwork and expeditions, Geography teaches us how to be more socially, economically, environmentally and culturally aware, better informed and therefore more responsible citizens of the world.
Our Geography Department is staffed by a dynamic team of subject specialists with knowledge and experience across both education and industry. The team is passionate about the importance of Geography as a subject with a cross-curriculum influence and as a foundation for the skills students will need for their adult lives.
All students study Geography in Key Stage 3. Students have the option to select Geography as a GCSE for study in Key Stage 4. Our long term plan for each year group can be downloaded below.
