Around 500 attend massive Christmas party!
Our academy was the venue for a massive Christmas party on Sunday 9 December, organised by our staff and students working with the Evelina Children's Heart Organisation (ECHO).
"Our annual children's party is a really important event for us," said Jo WIlson, Chief Executive of ECHO. "Every child who has attended the heart unit at Evelina Children's Hospital during the year is invited to come along. We get together as many people as possible to have a really good time and create a big family event. That's what ECHO is all about."
Academy students have been helping to raise money for ECHO, which supports families where a child has a heart condition.
More activities
"Harris very kindly invited us to hold the party at the school and have offered us a wider range of activities than we've ever been able to offer before," said Becky Kelway, Membership Services Manager at ECHO.
As well as face painting and magicians there were art workshops, climbing wall, roller skating, scalextric, a cinema room, Big Brother Diary Room, computer games and loads of tasty food.
Worthwhile
"To see all the looks on the children's faces definitely made it all worthwhile," said Hayley Birch from Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich, who was the main organiser at the school. 'It was a challenge making it all happen but everybody had fun, which was great."
Jo Wilson, ECHO chief executive said: "The feedback we’ve had has been wonderful, so positive and appreciative and we know we couldn’t have achieved anywhere near as good a party without the management, staff and students at your wonderful school. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts."
