Shakespeare - Play in a Day
As part of our Shakespeare and Me literary festival, year 7 students got to rehearse and perform an entire Shakespeare play in one day!
Led by their teachers, they each told part of the story of A Midsummer Night's Dream, leading to a performance in school at the end of the day. Here's what they said about the experience.
“I had a wonderful time, and I got a good part because I didn’t want to act; the part I had made me confident and strong willed.” Sheren 7z1
“I liked Shakespeare in a day because it was a nice way to end the topic. I loved 7x1.” Lemesha 7z1
“I thought it was fun and very creative. I learnt how to work together and how to be more confident in reading out in front of an audience.” Shae 7z1
I felt really excited to take part in this lovely impressive sight because I never thought I would have a day like that. I did enjoy it and what I learnt is that Shakespeare is really enjoyable and I will love to do it again” Isatu 7z1
“Yesterday we did a play in a day and my part was to be a wall. From that I learnt how to stand very still. I enjoyed that the class worked together well, also I gained confidence in performing in front of an audience.” Sonia 7z1
“Yesterday I felt stage-frightened because I hadn’t had that much practice. But when I saw others having fun acting, I realised that acting doesn’t have to be perfect, it should be fun. So I went in front of the audience; I felt a bit shaken, then I used my confidence to try my best to be a furious lion.” Princess 7z1
“Yesterday was a really lovely day because when me and my class were doing the play, it made me feel brave to go up onto the stage and be funny. This is because my part was Bottom and he was funny.” Lucia 7z1
