Memorising pi
16 March 2014
Abigail Boghurst in Year 7 won the individual challenge of memorising the most numbers in pi after the decimal point. She managed to memorise 33 numbers, which mean she earned £33 to be donated to HOPE on her behalf.
We also raised £69.70 from our cupcakes sale during the KS3 and 4 break during our Pi Day, bringing to £102.70 the amount raised for local good causes during the day. The students were excited and enjoyed the activities we ran. They will certainly remember what pi is and its value!
The number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter "π" since the mid-18th century though it is also sometimes spelled out as "pi"
