Christie's Auction House visit
Ten Year 9 students on the Harris Experience programme visited the Kensington branch of Christie's last week for a unique insight into the workings of an Auction House.
The students had a tour around the valuation rooms and vaults and learnt about the way in which objects and art are valued and sold at auction.
They were taught the basics of how to value paintings and were then presented with two paintings to test their new skills out on. One was a Caravaggio estimated to be worth in the region of £150,000!
The students were also able to see an auction in action and have been invited back next month to auction some of the art work created by students at HGAED.
