South Bank University day
On Tuesday 2 December, we took a group of Year 9 students to South Bank University to attend a higher education information day.
The event covered vocabulary relating to higher education, the range of courses that can be studied, the differences between school and university, and what students can get out of going to university.
The university ambassadors introduced themselves and spoke briefly about their career paths. They then led the day by engaging the group in a range of activities aimed at encouraging them to think about their route to higher education.
The students were encouraged to discuss their future goals amongst themselves and were given a work booklet that they completed and kept for future reference. Once the students had settled, they were taken on a tour of the university campus and given information about university life and clubs and activities that they could be involved with.
We ended the day on a positive note, with the students creating a mood board which was based on their future goals.
