Goldsmith's University Trip for Year 9
Thirty four students from Year 9 spent the day at Goldsmith’s University, taking part in an outreach day that aims to raise aspiration.
The day got off to a great start. Tthe students were asked to sit in a circle and listen to the testimonials from the student ambassadors about their route to university. The day was hosted by Trippplicate, an education company which offers drama-based workshops. They asked the students to play a game to encourage communication amongst the group; once the game was completed the girls were asked to order themselves by their birthdate with one clause, that they couldn’t communicate verbally.
Steps to university
The students then continued with a few more games that related to starting university. The student ambassadors were working hard ensuring that the students were engaged and thinking about the university processes. The girls went on to take part in a ‘ladder workshop’ and were given a pack with different steps to university such as visit the UCAS website. They had to place the steps in the right order.
After lunch, the students were taken on a tour of the campus. They then went to the lecture halls and received a lecture on ‘the psychology behind magic’.
