Students Work with Globe Theatre on Henry V
Students who have been rehearsing scenes from Henry V visited the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, a new space at Shakespeare’s Globe in anticipation of their performance there later this month.
Over the last 13 weeks students from year 8,9 and 12 have been working with a practitioner from the Globe once a week. They have explored the themes and characters from Shakespeare’s history play and have produced three scenes which will be performed alongside scenes by other schools from across Southwark.
This trip was an opportunity for students to see the space they will perform in to friends and family on the 12th of June and have a tentative walk through of their lines.
The £7 million reproduction of a Jacobean theatre is an impressive yet intimate space with beautiful hand carved and painted features.
The trip really invigorated the students and helped them visualise their performance. With one week to go, we hope everyone’s lines are learnt and we look forward to seeing the final performance!
