GCSE and A Level art exhibitions
This year's GCSE and A Level students have seen their work on display at public gallery spaces in Peckham, where they could be bought for £60. Clare Stanhope and Lara Carter, Heads of Art, explain.
GCSE Art at Peckham Pelican
This year the students completing their GCSE course in Art/Photgraphy/Textiles had the opportunity to display their work as part of the summer exhibition at the Peckham Pelican in Peckham.
Students were introduced to the commercial factor of buying and selling work - which helped them put art into a commercial context. Members of the public commented on how diverse and exciting the exhibition was. During the show the students were given the opportunity to participate with the lively Peckham art community.
We hope to continue the GCSE Summer Exhibition as an important annual event to celebrate students' achievements.
A Level Art at the Small White Elephant
Some of our larger A Level pieces are on display at the Small White Elephant coffee house and art gallery in Peckham. Pictured is Jade, one of the A2 students, with her photography work.
This new knowledge was cemented with the students being able to draw comparisons with the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition which the current GCSE students recently attended (see picture below).
