Inter-House Netball Competition
Harris Girls’ Academy has hosted two fantastic inter-house netball competitions so far this term for years 7 and 8.
Year 8 took to the Netball court on 29 September in a battle of the houses and seven different tutor groups participated.
Team captains had the responsibility of organising the teams together and gathering all the equipment ready to play. Six enthusiastic Sports Leaders in Year 10 and 12 organised the event including umpiring and scoring matches.
All the students played exceptionally well and there was a roaring crowd of support from their fellow team mates on the side. It was a close competition especially between first and second place but Kings House stormed to victory as the overall winners with a majority 370 points. Well done Kings!
On Tuesday 17 November, six different coaching groups in Year 7 took part in their inter-house Netball competition.
It was a rainy day so we took to the courts indoors and the atmosphere in the Sports hall was buzzing! Each team played four games and the Sports Leaders in Years 8 and 10 were there to keep students safe and playing to the rules.
One house in particular crowned themselves champions into first place with a grand total of 300 points so well done Manchester! The remaining teams were very close in points with a total of only 30 points between 5th place and 2nd place.
A big thank you and well done to all the students who took part.
The next inter-house Netball competition is taking place on Tuesday 24 November for Year 10.
Each term we will be hosting a different sport for the inter-house competitions so keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming Spring term to find out which sport it will be!

Year 10 competition
On Tuesday 24 November, fourteen of our dedicated Year 10 students took the time out of their busy revision schedule to let off some steam at our very own Year 10 inter-house netball competition.
Manchester 9 battled it out on the court against a combined team of Kings 7 + Kings 9 players and the games were umpired by Sports Leader Jade Thomas-Edwards in Year 10. The level of netball played was exceptional and many of our GCSE PE pupils were showing off their netball knowledge and skills by applying it to the game. The results were as follows:
KINGS 16
MANCHESTER 11
Congratulations to Kings for a well-deserved victory!
