Top 1% in England for Student Progress
Students make more progress at Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich than at 99% of other state schools in England, according to new figures released by Ofsted.
Students’ progress was measured in their best eight subjects, with Ofsted comparing their performance at the end of year 11 with when they joined the school.
Our students were in the top 1% nationally for progress made, and amongst the best schools in London. It’s the fifth year in a row we’ve been in the top 3%.
“A huge well done to every single student and member of staff,” said Principal Jane Fletcher.
“This is the second time in five years we’ve been in the top 1%, and we’ve never been out of the top 3% during that period. This is a tremendous achievement and one of which all our students, teachers and parents should be immensely proud.”
"Significant gains"
"Statistics are often used to suggest all manner of things and are often difficult to gauge against the context you’re concerned with," says parent governor Simon Boghurst. "However this measure of being in the top 1% nationally for students' levels of progress during their life at the school, speaks for itself.
"It encapsulates the entire student body, demonstrating that students will make significant gains no matter where their initial academic starting point is. This is testament to the expertise and drive of the senior management, coupled with the considerable talent and dedication of all the staff.
"As a parent this is reflected in the positive experience my daughters enjoy at the school and remarkable results they have achieved. Harris Girls' Academy is a real jewel of a school in East Dulwich."
