Oxford offer for former student, Elisabeth
Former student Elisabeth Boghurst has been offered a place at Keble College, Oxford, to study chemistry.
Elisabeth, 18, (pictured here the day before her interview!), left Harris Girls' in 2014 and is currently studying for A levels in chemistry, maths, Spanish and geography.
“I love chemistry because I find the world curiously fascinating at the atomic level and its applications are so broad,” she says. “Oxford stands out for me because it has one of the best chemistry departments in the world and we’ll be learning from tutors and researchers who are leading the way in their field. It’s going to be really stimulating and challenging.”
Elisabeth first visited Oxford during trips there as a Harris Girls’ student. “There are lots of things that stand out from my time at Harris Girls’. I grew up a lot there and learned how to make the most of the teachers and resources on offer. My science and geography teachers stand out in particular.”
Is Elisabeth confident about getting the two A* and one A grades she needs in her exams this summer to take up her place? “Well, they wouldn’t make the offer if it wasn’t achievable! It’s certainly do-able with a lot of hard work.”
Everyone at Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich wishes her all the best.
