Clinical Experiments at St Georges University Hospital
Year 9 science students enjoyed an interesting and exciting day at St Georges University Hospital where they were able to learn about various branches of medicine and even mould their own prosthetics (pictured).
During the session they were able to discover and discuss the social implications of prostheses and the grades they will need to get in order to study at the university and other routes that they could follow.
The girls were also able to practice their clinical skills (pictured below), including trying their hand at measuring blood pressure, peak flow and heart rate, learning to intubate a training mannequin and testing their knowledge of anatomy and reflexes.
The Student Ambassadors, who are currently year 2 and 3 medical students, were also on hand to assist throughout the day.
Rebecca Godwin said: “I really enjoyed this day I wish I could stay longer”. Hannah Kanu said: “I found it very inspirational and enjoyable and the information they gave us about what grades to strive for was very good too.”
The day was a great success and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.
