GCSE Results 2016 - A Fantastic Achievement
Well done to our students for their amazing 2016 GCSE results.
Eighty per cent of students achieved five or more GSCEs including English and Maths.
But this year the headline figures are also about the new Progress 8 and Attainment 8 and Ebacc too. Progress 8 and Attainment 8 represent every single subject at the academy.
Our Progress 8 score was 0.97. With the national average set at 0, this means we achieved nearly a full grade above the national average for students of the same ability. Our Ebacc has increased by 10% this year to 42.5%
More details will follow shortly but congratulations to all the students, their parents and our staff for making these fantastic results possible.
“I worked really hard and spent time coming early to school and staying late, and I was always asking the teachers questions.” Zahra (pictured above).
“I received a lot of help and good teachers who gave us loads of practice papers. I called my mum and she was screaming on the phone she was so happy!” Ebony, pictured above (right), who achieved 2 A* and 9 A grades, and a Distinction*.
“Self belief is important, and not to be always comparing yourself to other people. I knew these exams were designed for students of my age so I thought why shouldn’t I do really well. Just don’t get mixed up in other things but stay focused.” Veronica, pictured above, who achieved 9 A* and 1 B grade and a Distinction*.
Arafat (left) and Tiahn. Arafat achieved 1 A*, 6 A and 4 B grades, while Tiahn scored 1 A*, 4 A, 5 B and 1 C grade and a Distinction.
“My parents and teachers were really helpful and I tried my best. We got a lot of extra support after school too.” Asifa, pictured above with her mum.
“I’m really proud. I think I did so well because of all the hard work.” Maria, pictured above with her mum.
“I’d advise younger students to work hard from the beginning, like I did, rather than leave it to the last minute. I enjoyed learning and I discussed what I’d learned with friends and parents because it was interesting. Talking about things helps you to learn.” Ariel, pictured above, who achieved 5 A*, 4 A and 2 B grades and a Distinction*
