Steel Pan Sensation for Black History Month
Harris Girls’ Steel Pan Band performed on the drive of the school at break on Tuesday to celebrate Black History Month.
The heritage of these instruments is traced to the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago and the sound of the band is a familiar one to staff and students here at Harris Girls.
It was a lovely addition to the celebrations of Black History Month we’ve had across the school and we hope it won’t be long until the band’s next performance.
Canteen shows off its Culinary Culture
To mark Black History Month, the Canteen also created a selection of African and Caribbean menus. Staff and students enjoyed dishes including jollof rice, jerk chicken and plantain. The question is… was it as good as it is at home?
