Girls Enter Southwark U14 Football Tournament
Two football teams from Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich entered the Southwark Schools under 14 football tournament in April, competing against 13 other schools from the borough.
The teams, which were made up of girls from years 7, 8 and 9, started the tournament with a lack in confidence despite their obvious abilities, with many of the games ending 0-0.
As the day progressed, however, our girls started to feel more comfortable, especially the A team, which began winning their games and showing some great teamwork. Tameka also demonstrated some fantastic shots to win the final games of first round. The A team finished in 4th position.
The B team worked very hard but found it challenging to show strength and control. The majority of the team were Year 7 students who were playing against Year 8 or 9 students from other schools. They showed great sportsmanship and positivity throughout the day finishing 5th in their pool.
The overall performance from both teams showed good teamwork and perseverance. Well done to all that took part and represented the academy. We're proud of you!
