HOPE online shop launched by students
The official launch of our HOPE online shop took place yesterday at Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich.
The shop sells high quality cupcakes, silk ladies scarves, silk gentlemen's handkerchiefs and songs recorded by our choir.
HOPE stands for 'Helping Others, Promoting Enterprise' with all profits being donated to local good causes. Over £1,060 was raised at the launch event alone.
The silk scarves and handkerchiefs were the result of a design project at the academy run by designers Philip Chalk and Laura Bennett working with textiles engineer Wayne Carter. Around 50 students took part, with the winning ten designs being made into high quality silk products for sale.
Cupcakes are also on offer in a variety of flavours and designs, all made by a small team of dedicated and expert student bakers. 'Customers seem to like the creaminess of the icing and the spongy softness of the cakes,' said student Femilia Mansaray, year 10.
'I was really impressed by all the hard work of students,' said Cllr Renata Hamvas. 'The silk scarves are real luxury items and the cupcakes are delicious!'
