Students' Photographs Included in Royal Academy Summer Show
We are very proud that two photography students, Sahar (Year 9) and Tabitha (Year 13), have been selected to take part in the Royal Academy Young Artists' Summer Show.
Their work was selected from over 17,000 entries to the show this year, which will be launched as an online exhibition on 12 July. Huge congratulations to both of them. We thought you'd like to see their work too.
We Are Not the Same, by Sahar, Year 9
"This portrait of my brother is about how the modern world contrasts with my family's traditional culture. I feel that my brother's obsession with gaming has taken over his life and he has no interest in learning about Afghan culture." Sahar
Non-Western Still Life, by Tabitha, Year 13
"I wanted to use fruits and vegetables that represented a non-European perspective. I found these items on Peckham High Street. I think they really capture the essence of the my community and the diversity of the area." Tabitha
Both students will take part in the online exhibition and Sahar's work was specially selected to take part in an exhibition at the Royal Academy once lockdown is over.
The Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open submission exhibition for young people aged 5 - 19 years, taking place both online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts to recognise talented young artists.
