Year 13 Students Apply for University
Year 13s worked hard on their university applications to meet the 26 January deadline. After an abrupt end to their time in Year 11, following the first lockdown of March 2020, it is great to see Year 13s able to focus on next steps.
We are proud that they are aiming high with applications to fantastic courses at a range of universities.
Most Year 13s have applied to university. In London we have applications to King's, Queen Mary, Imperial, UCL, LSE, SOAS, Greenwich, Royal Holloway, Goldsmiths and London South Bank, among others.
Many students are keen to venture further, and we have applications to universities including Cardiff, Birmingham, Nottingham, Loughborough, Durham, Bath, Brighton, and Kent.
We have our usual high numbers applying for medicine and health-related courses with a number already having completed interviews for medicine, with offers for biomedicine, nursing and midwifery courses coming through. We also have a range of students seeking to study psychology.
We have a healthy number of future lawyers, criminologists, social workers, teachers, business leaders, engineers, and artists, and also have Year 13 students, like Madinah, who are planning to apply for an apprenticeship, in part motivated by monthly mentoring sessions with her Career Ready industry mentor.
Year 12s are also thinking ahead to university, and we commend students who have successfully applied to university mentoring programmes.
- Diego is part of UCL's medic mentoring programme
- Maryam was successful with the King’s K+ science programme
- Shahana is part of the Sutton Trust Law programme at LSE
- Samia is on the Reading Scholars’ programme for Film, Television and Theatre
We also have several students waiting to hear if they have been successful on the Social Mobility Foundation programme.
We wish all our Year 13 students well as they navigate the next few months of revision, exams and coursework and are here to support them get ready for their next destination.
