Criminology Students Q&A With Practicing Barrister Jessica Van Der Meer

Lawyers at Lunchtime geograph 4029259 by Des BlenkinsoppOur Post 16 Criminology students and aspiring lawyers recently met Jessica Van Der Meer, a practising barrister at 2 Temple Gardens (pictured).

Jessica captivated students with her stories from her varied career and educational background. Jessica was very generous with her time and answered an array of different questions put to her by our students, including how to manage imposter syndrome and what was her hardest case to date?

She gave our students some useful advice for their interviews, including quoting specific work of the university or chamber and answering every question with ‘why and because’. Students left the session informed and inspired to pursue a career as a barrister – watch this space!
