Year 10 Learn About Financial Trading at MAKO
A selection of students from Year 10 had the opportunity to take part in the ‘We Can Be’ project in March, which seeks to increase female participation in careers associated with the city such as finance, advertising and business.
As part of this project, our students were fortunate enough to be invited into MAKO, a trading company that deals in commodities and derivatives, and is a leading organisation within the financial world.
As part of this experience our students were able to interview a range of figures within the company in order to understand the different pathways into this sector and speak to the experts in their field.
Students were also able to take part in some virtual trading and gained an insight into this complex process. Alongside this, students were given a tour around the offices and shown the various sectors of this company and how they function together in the world of business.
After this our students were able to take part in a conference that explored how as young women they could gain access to the city and all the professions it offers from a range of figures within the ‘We Can Be’ project.
We would like to thank MAKO for making us feel so welcome and at home within their offices, their generosity and friendliness. Our students really enjoyed the day and many gained inspiration from this opportunity!
