Celebrating International Women’s Day 2025
This year we celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7th with a series of workshops and events.
Students took part in activities in their PSHE lessons to learn about the challenges women have faced (and are facing) in the world of work and elsewhere.
Students also learned about the women’s rights movement within their assemblies and had the opportunity on Friday to show their support by coming in dressed in professional wear.
#AccelerateAction
This show of solidarity supported the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, #AccelerateAction, and encouraged students to fundraise and support the movement in small ways.
The DT department also put on a bake sale, with students able to purchase cakes and other treats, the proceeds from which will go to support the movement.
In the afternoon all Year 10 pupils took part in a range of workshops from experts within their field. These companies and fields included:
• Shark Ninja
• Multiplex Construction
• Civil and environmental engineering
• Morgan Stanley
• PWC
• Metis Consultants
• Go Ahead Engineering
• Schroders
• MACE Construction
• Forensics and toxicology
• Osteopathy
• Neilcott Construction
• Accenture
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on 8 March, commemorating women’s fight for equality and liberation along with the women’s rights movement. International Women’s Day gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
We would like to thank all the companies and individuals who dedicated their time and effort to make the day so successful. It truly raised the issue of women’s rights, as well as giving us an insight into a variety of careers and the pathways that lead to their improvement.
