England call-up for Ramatu, Year 11
Year 11 student, Ramatu Jalloh, has been selected for the Under 16 England basketball training squad to represent the country at the European basketball championships next year.
Ramatu is dedicated to basketball at the academy, missing only one training session in the past three years. The selection for the England basketball camp is a just reward for her commitment and talent.
Coach Sterling says: ‘Hard work has paid off for Ramatu and this selection is a testament to her dedication. We are all very proud of her as she is representing her team and the academy.’ Sterling said he hoped more HGAED girls would represent England in the future.
Ramatu admitted to being excited but remains admirably humble. ‘I didn’t want to tell anyone until later,’ she said.
The final team will be selected after the Bristol training camp in the October half term, so we all wish her luck for this exciting venture.
'She deserves everyone's congratulations,' said Principal Jane Fletcher. 'She is such a positive ambassador for the academy in so many ways.'
