Young poets of Southwark

Our students were among  young poets of Southwark to hear the first performance of The Olympic Youth Poem for Southwark, which was performed by Sir Andrew Motion to an audience of poets from four Southwark academies and the Mayor of Southwark at Peckham library.

Students across the borough attended workshops run by Sandra Agard, a local poet who took the best lines from participants and made them in to one poem.

HGAED year 8 students who had lines in the poem include: Zeinab, Janelle, April, Rae, Catherine, Yolanda and Emma.

Sir Andrew Motion is the former Poet Laureate and has written poems to celebrate royal events at the request of the Queen.
