Important letter to all parents from the Principal
25th November 2010
Dear parents and carers,
I am writing to you with the very sad news that Ibrahim Bash-Taqi, who has been a sixth form student here since September, passed away in hospital yesterday.
Ibrahim was a bright, hard working and very popular member of the sixth form and we are all saddened by this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
We have been in close contact with the relevant health authorities, including the South East London Health Protection Unit who have confirmed there is no reason to believe that there is any increased risk to other students at this Academy.
As you would expect at this important time of the academic year with examinations approaching in January, we will be operating a normal school week. We held a special assembly for Sixth Formers yesterday afternoon and support has been provided for students who have asked for it.
Incidents such as this are extremely rare and it may be that your child wishes to talk to you about what has happened, something which we would encourage. We will also continue to provide support to students who require it.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Fletcher
Principal
