Future Pathways event helps students plan their next steps
Our Future Pathways event on Thursday 21 November was our biggest yet - giving students a chance to meet over 25 different professionals and over 30 universities, to help students plan their next steps.
The event is designed to inform our students about job opportunities they might not previously have even considered,' said Kirsty Martin, Head of Post 16. 'It's also a chance to talk with professionals about educational pathways, work experience and /or specific skills that might well be required in a particular profession.'
Professions represented at the event included nursing, architecture, social work, public relations, scientific research and broadcasting. 'It was really interesting to meet all the different people and find out what they do,' said Layla Mehdi, year 12.
Students could also talk to representatives from over 30 different universities, to ask about specific courses and entry requirements or about applying for higher education more generally. 'It was useful because it made me think more deeply about the courses I want to apply for,' said Kumba Bockarie, year 12.
A big thank you to all the universities and professionals who gave up their time to make this event such a success.
