HGAED leads Southwark ‘value added’ league table
HGAED tops the ‘value added’ league table for Southwark, according to the latest figures released by the Department for Education.
Value added scores look not just at absolute results but at how much students improve during their time at the school. HGAED came top in a league table of 15 Southwark secondary schools and is in the top 2% of schools nationally.
The Department for Education calls value added scores, introduced in 2002, a ‘better and fairer measure of school effectiveness than raw results alone’.
Value added scores take into account not just absolute results but the progress students make between joining the school in Year 7 and finishing GSCEs.
‘We’re immensely proud of the effectiveness of our academy for students at all ability levels,’ says Principal Jane Fletcher.
‘The 2010 exam results show that we support the most able students to achieve some of the best results in the country, as well as enabling all students to make excellent progress.’
