Rugby International Coaches Students
Fiona Pocock, England Women's International player, put the girls at Harris Girls' Academy through their paces during a training session on Monday 2nd March.
Fiona currently has 24 International caps for England, playing in the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup and plays rugby for Richmond RFC. Students who regularly attend Tag Rugby club took part in a special training session to provide tips on core Rugby skills and coaching.
The two hour training session started with key agility and speed work, with students understanding how components of fitness are essential within every game. Small sided games were soon followed and tackling drills incorporated. Fiona reflected on her previous game play and scenarios during matches.
The session finished with a Q & A with the students. Fiona shared her passion for the sport with the girls and the journey she took to get into Women's International Rugby.
Tag Rugby Club is on every Monday 3:15-4:45pm and available for all students at HGAED.
