National Pi Week 2015 - Celebrating Pi
Students celebrated Pi (π) over a whole week, from Monday 9 - Friday 13 March.
National Pi week celebrates the symbol Pi, the number that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter in Mathematics.
Various competitions took place around the school organised by the Maths department to celebrate this week.
Due to Pi’s infinite nature, a fun challenge was set up to see which student could memorise the most digits of Pi beyond its decimal point. The joint winners were Chelsea and Lamya.
A Pi related treasure hunt for each year group took place during lunch times throughout the week and prizes were given out to winners Joy, Hannah and Leila in Year 10 for revealing the most clues.
On Friday 13th March the DT department collaborated with some students from our HOPE charity to make over 180 Pi cupcakes to be sold to hungry pupils during break and lunchtime. It was all sleeves up - even Miss Ughere and Miss Hearle got their aprons on!
