Radio Club - Listen to the Broadcasts Here
Harris Girls’ Radio Club have been working with Hoxton Radio to create a new radio station that is fronted, presented and produced by the pupils.
You can listen to all their programmes on their blog.
The station will report on news from around the school, the personal achievements and opinions of its presenters as well as popular music. The students also discuss with each other on air about their GCSE choices and other school related issues.
As well as gaining experience in multi media journalism and radio production, the students are getting experience in public speaking and interviewing skills.
Hands-on experience
The pupils involved also recently interviewed Angela Burgess (pictured), founder of SE22 magazine and About Dulwich website, about her reasons for starting the magazine, where she finds her stories and her work in publishing.
"I was delighted to be invited to be interviewed by the Harris Girls' radio club recently," said Angela.
"The girls were organised and had planned their questions ahead. They were very direct with their questions, which is very refreshing!
"I am sure the girls will benefit hugely from work with Hoxton Radio as they are getting real experience and not just theory. Nothing beats hands-on experience and having a live subject to interview really made them focus."
