Healthy Eating Week 1-5 June 2015
It was Healthy Eating Week from June 1-5, and we encouraged students to eat healthily and become more active.
Sudents participated well and took up the following food challenges eagerly:
- Have a healthy breakfast
- Have 5 A Day
- Drink plenty
- Get active
- Try something new
The aim of the week was to promote healthy eating across the school.Students were given copies of the Eatwell plate and the meal planner to help them make the right choices. In their coaching groups discussions were had around the different types of food and their sugar contents and students confessed that they didn’t drink enough water and mainly substituted this for sugary drinks instead.
Students became more aware of having a balanced diet and tucked in to the salad bar with every meal purchased. Our catering team supported us and were enthusiastic about raising the profile of food and getting the pupils to try something different.
The week ended with students trying something new and some students learnt how to shop for ingredients and prepare a fish dish.
