Art Attack at Goldsmiths University
A group of lucky Year 9 students enjoyed an Art and Design taster day at Goldsmiths University and were able to experience what university life is really like.
Twenty two students were greeted by three student ambassadors currently studying at Goldsmiths and the sessions began with a talk about what to expect at university.
The students were put into groups and had to design a campaign poster and present an advert to the rest of the group on why they should study Art and Design, Music and Computing – the three subjects that our student ambassadors are studying.
The students were given a tour around the campus where they could meet other lecturers and students and investigate exclusive areas of the site including lecture rooms, seminar halls, design labs and the fitness suite.
The day ended with a lecture by Matt Ward the Programme Leader for BA Design. He spoke about his research on speculative design and showed the students photographs of some undergraduate artwork designs with the intention of showing how design is important in everyday life.
