Harris Girls' Storms Through to Round Two of Debate League
Three teams from Harris Girls' competed in the second round of the Urban Debate League organised by Debate Mate.
Girls from years 7,8 and 9 (pictured right) formed strong opposition for schools attending the event at Pendergast Vale, winning four of the six debates in which they competed.
The prepared motion for the night was ‘This House Would Ban the Emergency Services from going on Strike’, and the unprepared motion was ‘This House Would Ban Child Actors’.
Both debates provided brilliant opportunities for students to showcase their skills, which they have been developing each week after school with Mr Barlow and a Debate Mate Student Ambassador.
The girls came away buzzing from their success and are already looking forward to the next competition, so watch this space!
