Paris Trip for Sixth Form Students
A-Level students studying creative subjects at HGAED had the opportunity to develop their projects with a research trip to Paris in October. Students visited Notre Dame Cathedral, Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo and the Eiffel tower.
At Centre Pompidou, students explored the art collection at Musée National d'Art Moderne. The museum has the second largest collection of modern and contemporary art in the world, after the Museum of Modern Art in New York, with more than 100,000 works of art by 6,400 artists from 90 countries.
Student Ahamed said: “The gallery contained a huge range of artworks. I love to travel and going to Paris allowed me to experience a new culture”.
Palais de Tokyo offered A Level students the opportunity to engage with one of the most important leading spaces in contemporary art. Students worked their way through the incredible exhibition ‘ON AIR’ by artist Tomás Saraceno. ‘ON AIR’ celebrates new ways of thinking about our relation with the planet. The trip concluded with a trip to the iconic Eiffel Tower.
Student Ria said: “I found the trip to be very educational. It was a great way to experience the art culture in Paris and observe why art is so valuable. Art allows me to expand the possibilities within my own artwork. Paris was filled with inspiration for me.”
The trip helped equip A-Level students with new cultural knowledge and skills that will assist them in their futures beyond HGAED. Our Sixth Form students benefit from a range of experiences throughout the year that are designed to build links with outside artists and galleries. We believe that real-life experiences like this can help shape the whole student to look beyond their work and contribute to society as a whole.
Teacher Mr Campos said: “It was only through opportunities in school that I became interested in the arts. This is why I think opportunities such as trips are crucial in expanding the worlds of our students. It makes the learning relevant and real to them. I hope this trip is something they never forget."
