How Our Health Hut Can Improve Girls’ Wellbeing
The Health Hut is a safe space where girls can benefit from one-to-one and small group sessions, if they need help and support with, for example, healthy eating, exercise, sleep, self-esteem, friendships, identity, family life, behaviour, anxiety issues or learning needs.
"Students are encouraged to get involved in our Peace Garden project, for example,” said Sarah Murray Thompson, who runs the Health Hut. “We are currently working to create a Peace Garden (pictured) as a peaceful outside space for students to relax in.”
We also regularly run certified Mindfulness in Schools Programme sessions across the year groups. These are dedicated to improving the lives of children by making a genuine, positive difference to their mental health and wellbeing. We also offer yoga after school on Wednesdays (pictured), delivered by Project Yogi.
“I think doing Yoga is good because after school I’m stressed and sometimes I need to wind down," said one Year 8 student. "It helps me mentally and physically. Having props like bolsters and pillows is good. If there were more chances to relax after school and do Yoga, I would go.”
