Ambulance to Uganda
Six students will visit south east Uganda this summer as part of a project to take a refurbished ambulance to the village of Nabiswa.
The old ambulance, which is being stripped and refitted by Bedfordshire Fire Service, is being shipped to Uganda, where our students will meet it before going on to Nabiswa. The party will also include paramedics and mechanics.
Students will help deliver first aid training in the villages and set up a scheme, using mobile telephones, so that villagers can contact the ambulance.
The project is a partnership between Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich, Barnfield Academy, Luton, Bedfordshire Fire Service and the Onset Trust. Watch out for further details in the next issue and at www.hgaed.org.uk
