Football Participation Grows at HGAED
We have continued to try to grow football participation at HGAED over the Autumn term and students from all year groups now can play and improve weekly.
Kinetic Football Foundation has been sending coaches to train the girls each week on a Thursday after school and it has begun to show results, with the girls improved commitment to football and some promising performances and results.
HGAED beat Harris Beckenham 2-1 in the Harris Cup in November, the team pictured putting in a great performance to come from a goal behind and win in the last few minutes. Ava-Rose scored an impressive equalising goal before Angel scored a free kick to win near the end. This team will play Harris Clapham in the next round. Ava won Player of the Match.
HGAED also played Harris Clapham in another year group fixture in December, going down 3-1 in December. Kayla scored a fantastic equaliser to bring the scores level, and Evie made a number of brilliant saves to keep us in the game, but HGAED let a couple of goals in late on to go out. Evie was our Player of the Match
HGAED also took a team to Bacon’s College in Rotherhithe in October for a Year 7 Southwark Girls Football tournament against other schools from Southwark. They played a few games and worked hard against some good teams. Alyse was named player of the Tournament for HGAED.
