HGAED Mock EU Referendum - Result
HGAED students took part in a mock EU referendum on 23rd June.
With campaigning in full swing, the Student Council were able to speak to students on the pros and cons of leaving or remaining in the EU.
Our Student Council representatives, who were fully committed, prepared the questionnaires and posters, and went into coaching classes to carry out surveys. This was also followed up in our citizenship classes where the referendum debate was discussed at length and students’ interests in the debate increased.
On the 23rd June students then got the chance to vote in our mock EU referendum, deciding whether to ‘Leave’ or ‘Remain’.
Once the votes were counted, 81% of students voted to ‘Remain’ and 14% to 'Leave', with 5% undecided.
A big thank you to the Student Council reps who did a fantastic job campaigning and counting the votes: Kitan, Faith, Adriana, Miami and Lydia.
